INSPIRATION

Feeling like an outcast

This relates to our short film about 3 close friends and the one outcast. This can resemble the envy and hatred they have toward each other and how mistreated the outcast felt.

I got the idea of the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme because that is the scary music playing in the background whiles the protagonist's friends are being abducted by something unfamiliar.

This image shows an in depth of sleep paralysis, and how it may be pictured in real life. This links to our short film because the evil protagonist may signify the dark shadow that is hovering on top of the female protagonist, (known as the friend in the movie). However the female protagonist is trapped and cannot escape.

Missing girl found in a newspaper

This gives me inspiration because my short film talks about girls getting missing. This leaves the audience feeling suspicious and confused, because no one knows where the missing teenager has disappeared to.

The female protagonist looks isolated and in the cold. this can symbolise how the protagonist in our short film may be feeling inside her head. Alone and cold.

This video gives me inspiration to do my own short film because it is based on someone who had sleep analysis. This helps me understand the deeper meaning of how people that suffer from it behave. This also helps with the acting because we needed to see how people reacted when they suffered from paaralysis.

The idea of a Psychological Thriller is to emphasise the psychology of its character and their unstable, emotional state. That then provided me with the idea to classify our short film as a Psychological Thriller as one of our characters "The Forgotten One" has an unstable, emotional state.

Within the pictures I have chosen, they each portray a convention of our genre. For example the first image, follows the rules of third, allowing the audience to focus only on the man in the mask.

Through the mise-en-scene of facial expressions and lighting within these pictures, I would like to incorporate these into our short film, as well as black and white editing, quick camera movement as well as a crescendo of non digetic sound.

The film, Gone Girl has given me inspiration for our short film as it focuses on a man's wife's disappearance  becoming the focus of an intense media circus, the man sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent. This film represents a woman who is psychologically unstable and emotional due to the way she has been treated by her husband.

Another film that has given me inspiration for or short film is Inception. Inception is based on a thief who steals corporate secrets through use of dream-sharing technology. The idea of entering someone elses dream in order to steal something from them as well as not being aware of what is 'The Real World' or 'The Dream World' is very interesting as it creates an illusion as well as confusing the audience member as to what is real and what isn't. Therefore, allowing the audience member to stay focused at all times.

Thus, creating a film that combines a character who is psychologically unstable as well as emotional with the idea of not know whether something is apart of the dream world or the real world, will fit all the criteria's that make up a psychological short film.

This image of the garden with the sunset lighting in the background sets a scene for our psychological thriller as the image is mixing sunflowers which are meant to be bright and the darkness in the background.

This represents that someone; somewhere is watching you, which gave me inspiration for our short movie.

This particular image has inspired me as it is based in a bedroom, which is the key location of our short film

This quote inspired me as 3 of the characters experience nightmares so this quote relates.

The strangeness of this image led me to choose this image as inspiration for our short film.

These photos are a replant of one of our locations, which will feature, in our short film

This is a photo of a child with a sinister twist, which summarises what our short film is about (psychological thriller).

By the use of the word ‘darling’ in this quote suggests that someone may be comfortable with calling someone else that which sense that there may be back stabbing

The word written in capitals reinforces unstableness of our movie.

This photo is the lyrics for one of the nursery rhythms, which will be used, in our short films.

Many films of the thriller genre have violence as a key theme throughout their films, this is usually accompanied by blood and death.

The narrative of films from the thriller genre almost always revolves around some sort of investigation or puzzle.
